Background

Tech + Real Estate = OnePropertee, a partnership between a tech startup Innovation Love and an established real estate marketing firm DRIVEN Marketing Group in the Philippines

Research

Our goal through our partnership was to create solutions for the real estate industry. Since we were starting our platform from virtually “scratch”, we asked our sellers:

What is the usual workflow of a Real Estate Developer and Seller?

Where do you usually have trouble with in the process?

Method: Interviews

Problem

From our research, the main insight that we gain was that:

Tools for selling real estate are disconnected.

Real estate sellers have to use non-integrated platforms resulting in inefficient work by jumping around several disconnected products. Some of the tools used by a seller would be:

Tools under the categories: CRM; Communication; Files, Storage and Note-taking; and Marketplaces

Journey Map

We were able to identify the following stages in a Real Estate professional’s journey in selling a property and their current satisfaction level based on their tools.

 Ideation

After discussing the insights from the Research activity, we used a Note and Vote exercise to exploring multiple solutions and drop initial assumptions. This was done through individual brainstorming, with each member coming up with multiple ideas. The smaller groups would then share and discuss what solutions they liked and try to compile it into a larger-picture scenario with integrated solutions.

 Key Solution, Flows & Wireframes

Create a platform with integrated solutions

We were able to come up with a basic structure of our platform through the modules that we wanted to have. Eventually we would still retire some modules and create new ones based on observing our users needs and iterating upon it.

The wireframes were created with Frontend Development already in mind and we had chosen a framework to scaffold the platform. Bootstrap CSS and React version Reactstrap was chosen based on previous experience and ease of integration. The direction was to meet the wireframes and frontend framework in the middle basing on the platform’s structure.

Design System

We based our design system from the proposal submitted to us by our external branding contributor.

We then conducted an internal Brand Sprint similar to a Design Sprint to find out what our brand’s style and personality was. Concurrently, we developed components to fill out our wireframes and move towards structuring our product for its initial validation phase.

Validation and Testing

We presented our initial iterations to our real estate partners. UX-wise we tool this opportunity as an informal qualitative data-gathering session to hear how our proposed solutions would we received.

We also held internal sessions to test flows and usability. We found that this was an ideal process and we have now integrated it to each sprint

Pivot and Opportunities

Through continuous iteration of testing, feedback and feature improvement, we have shifted our focus from just providing tools to providing effective solutions for real estate professionals. We now focus on providing leads to our sellers to serve their need to reach potential clients and close deals.

Centered on our findings from the initial user journey, we gave special attention to how leads are generated within our platform. We saw compounded monthly growth of upwards of 18% of sellers getting leads just from late 2021 to early 2022 from the combined efforts of Marketing, Product & Design, and Development.
